Merchant's description

Ermitage Rouge Le Méal Chapoutier 2005 is a Syrah from the Hermitage appellation in the Northern Rhône, sourced from the Le Méal lieu-dit. M Chapoutier owns 2.2 hectares of this celebrated site. The 2005 vintage was a classic, warm year that produced concentrated and powerful wines in the Northern Rhône. This bottling, presented here in jeroboam format, is beginning to show its maturity with a complex bouquet of ripe blackberry, liquorice and smoked meat, all underscored by an intense mineral core. The palate is full-bodied with a rich, chewy texture and firm but ripe tannins, showcasing a youthful structure that promises further development.
