Kosher wine. Cellar for up to 4 years. Serve chilled. The Flam family have been winemakers for decades, but it was only in 1998 that brothers Golan and Gilad decided to found their own winery after an inspirational trip to Tuscany. Their father, Israel Flam, was the first Israeli to graduate from UC Davis’s Viticulture and Oenology school in the 1960s, so it was only natural that his sons would follow in his footsteps along with his wife who manages the business side of the company. The family’s Flam Blanc is made with Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay grapes sourced from the “Mata” and Givat Yeshayahu vineyards. Here the elevation ensures that summer days are warm and sunny followed by cooler nights which help to preserve the aromatics and freshness in the grapes. Winemaker Golan adopts a light touch in the winery and chooses to ferment the wine in stainless steel tanks which are carefully temperature controlled. On the nose there are enticing aromas of tropical fruit, lemon zest, and almond blossom, while the palate is fresh and lively with plenty of ripe stone fruit and dried herb notes. Ideal for sipping on its own as an aperitif, this wine also makes a great match for fresh seafood, roasted chicken or summer salads.
