Located in the province of Bolzano, in Trentino-Alto Adige, the Franz Haas winery has been in the hands of the same family for seven generations. With Franz's arrival, the company has achieved widespread critical and commercial acclaim thanks to the extraordinary quality of its wines. Franz Haas, who passed away in 2022, is still undoubtedly considered one of the region's most inspired producers, and his Pinot Noir wines are renowned worldwide. The Pinot Noir grapes, a selection of low-yielding clones, are sourced from vineyards located at altitudes ranging from 350 to 700 meters and characterized by a variety of soils, including loamy, sandy, calcareous, and gravelly soils. The perfect climate conditions, low yields, and careful selection in the vineyard guarantee the production of a wine of exceptional quality. After manual harvesting and vinification in open vats, the wine ages for a year in barriques and for another year in the bottle. In the glass, Pinot Noir Schweizer reveals a splendid, deep ruby color. Its aromatic profile is extremely elegant and layered, with notes of ripe cherry and berries, hints of leather and spice. On the palate, it is round and smooth, generous and rich, with velvety tannins and a refined, harmonious character. The finish is long, reminiscent of pepper. Try it with roasted guinea fowl or duck.
