Château Grand-Puy-Lacoste is a Fifth Growth estate located in Pauillac, Bordeaux. Now under the ownership of François-Xavier Borie, consistency and quality has certainly increased over the last decade and the château now enjoys a reputation as a producer of excellent, yet classical, Left Bank Bordeaux. The 2000 vintage was generally considered to be of exceptional quality and this wine is composed of a typically high portion of Cabernet Sauvignon (78%), with Merlot (20%) and Cabernet Franc (2%) in support. Grand-Puy-Lacoste often requires considerable cellaring and now, with 20 years on the clock, this is moving into its prime drinking phase, having gained greater savoury complexity and offering softer, silkier tannins.
