Drink it now or cellar for up to 25 years. It is recommended to decant it for an hour. Located in the village of Gevrey-Chambertin in Burgundy, France, Domaine Henri Magnien is a renowned winery founded in 1987. In reality, however, the Magnien family has been cultivating grapes in this wine region since the mid-1600s, and today, the twelfth generation of the family, Charles Magnien, manages the estate with its 7 hectares of vineyards. This Gevrey-Chambertin Premier Cru is a highly elegant red wine, made with Pinot Noir, the iconic grape variety of the Côte de Nuits in Burgundy. Here, the calcareous, marly soils and the oceanic climate with semi-continental influences create ideal conditions for Pinot Noir to thrive, creating wines of exceptional quality and capable of long aging. In the glass, the wine reveals an intense, brilliant ruby color with purple highlights. Its aromatic profile is fragrant and distinctive, with fruity notes of blackcurrant, raspberry, black cherry, blackberry, and blueberry, followed by hints of dried flowers, coffee, and undergrowth. On the palate, it is concentrated and rich, but not opulent. It has a medium body and velvety, elegant tannins. It is balanced and powerful, with a fresh acidity and a long, complex finish. It's a wine capable of aging beautifully for a couple of decades, but it can already be enjoyed with a porcini mushroom pie, grilled steak, or barbecued duck breast.
