Drink it now or cellar for up to 25 years. It is recommended to decant it for half an hour. Domaine Henri Magnien is a small family-run Burgundy estate located in the heart of the Côte de Nuits, with a long tradition dating back to the 17th century. Today, the estate covers approximately 7 hectares of vineyards and is managed by Charles Magnien, the twelfth generation of the family. The winery is renowned for its elegant Pinot Noirs. The Pinot Noir grapes are sourced from a parcel in the Premier Cru Gevrey-Chambertin called Les Cazetiers, located next to the Clos St. Jacques. Here, the vines, sheltered by an oak forest, enjoy a privileged position with an eastern exposure and calcareous, marly soil rich in pebbles. After vinification, the finished wine ages for a year in oak. In the glass, the wine reveals an intense ruby color with bright purple highlights. Its aromatic profile is broad and complex, with notes of red fruits such as blackcurrant, raspberry, and cherry, followed by hints of sweet spices, on a background of humus and undergrowth. On the palate, it is deep, dense, and generous. It has a concentrated character and supple, well-integrated tannins. It is elegant with a medium body and a long, smooth finish. It pairs well with meat stews, or with pork tenderloin with chanterelle mushrooms.
