A highly sought-after Northern Rhône white from Domaine Jean-Louis Chave, the 1989 vintage was reviewed by Robert Parker`s Wine Advocate as follows, `The 1989 Hermitage Blanc is low in acidity, expansive, and weighty, and makes for a huge, chewy mouthful of white wine. The honeyed, somewhat unctuous personality of the wine is more dominant in the 1989 than in the 1988, but there remains the head-turning, beautiful, flowery aromas, sensational concentration, super ripeness, and low acidity. Chave believes the latter component is always a characteristic of the greatest Hermitage vintages.`
