Hermitage Rouge Chave Magnum 2000
Hermitage Rouge Chave Magnum 2000 is a dry, very full-bodied red from Syrah (Hermitage, France), in the full, structured reds style. Tannins are very firm and acidity moderate; oak influence is some. Those scales describe the wine when young; this is a 26-year-old bottle and its tannin and oak will have softened. Good with lamb, beef stew, steak, venison.

Hermitage Rouge 2000 from Domaine Jean-Louis Chave is a Syrah from the Northern Rhône presented in magnum. The 2000 vintage was forward and fruit-driven, resulting in a wine of great charm and textural silkiness. Sourced from several heritage parcels, the wine displays notes of raspberries, wild herbs, white pepper and crushed granite. The magnum format has preserved a surprising level of primary fruit energy while allowing the development of subtle notes of forest floor and sandalwood.
