Merchant's description

Drink it now or cellar for up to 10 years. No need to decant, but best to open it half an hour before service. Located in the village of Morgon in the Beaujolais wine region of France, the Jean-Marc Burgaud winery was founded in 1989 and today covers approximately 19 hectares of vineyards spread across the Morgon, Beaujolais Village, and Régnié appellations, where the Gamay grape reigns supreme. Here, the pedoclimatic conditions are ideal for this varietal, capable of producing fragrant wines with excellent value. The Gamay grapes for Jean-Marc Burgaud's Morgon Côte du Py are sourced from parcels spread across the Py hillside, in the Morgon appellation. Here, the vines thrive in soil composed of schist, decomposed rock, rich in iron oxide and manganese, and enjoy a southern exposure. After manual harvesting and traditional Beaujolais vinification, with long carbonic maceration, the finished wine ages in barriques. In the glass, the wine reveals intense character and a broad, fruity aromatic profile with notes of cranberry, pomegranate, blackberry, and black cherry, followed by floral notes. On the palate, it has good structure and a velvety texture. It is fruity and juicy with well-defined, ripe tannins and a long, elegant finish. It is a balanced wine that displays all the personality and longevity potential of this small Beaujolais appellation. Try it with lasagna Bolognese or deep-fried turkey.
