Steve Kistler is rightly considered an icon in Californian winemaking and, since 1978, has produced some of the regions finest Pinot Noir. Cuvée Elizabeth comes from the Bodega Headlands Vineyard which sits at 400-750ft elevation and is constantly influenced by its proximity to the Pacific Ocean. Cooler climate and lighter extraction have resulted in an ethereal and elegant style perhaps not previously associated with Kistler. The 2006 is a wonderful medium to full-bodied release with marvellous breadth, complexity and purity. Dark cherry, raspberry, violets and liquorice all vie for superiority but ultimately combine in perfect harmony to provide a tremendous drinking experience.
