Product Information Country South Africa Region Constantia Grape Variety Muscat Vintage 2019 ABV 13.9% Experience the legendary Klein Constantia Vin de Constance 2019, a rare South African sweet wine renowned for its elegance, balance, and age-worthiness. Crafted from Muscat de Frontignan grapes grown on the historic Klein Constantia estate, this vintage benefits from a cooler, wetter season following years of drought, producing smaller, intensely flavoured berries. Harvested between late February and March 2019, 26 meticulous picking passes ensured a spectrum of ripeness from fresh acidity to late-harvest raisining. Each lot was fermented separately and blended during fermentation to naturally halt the process, preserving vibrant acidity and harmonious sweetness. Aged for 36 months, 18 in 500L French oak (50% new) and another 18 in large-format foudres, this wine showcases world-class craftsmanship and patience. Tasting Notes: • Colour: Bright light gold • Nose: Aromas of white peach, citrus blossom, orange zest, lemon curd, nutmeg, and a creamy undertone • Palate: Layers of ginger, oak spice, and vibrant fruit with elegant sugar-acid balance • Finish: Long, textured, delicately spiced, and structured for decades of cellaring Whether you are collecting iconic dessert wines or seeking a luxurious gift, Vin de Constance 2019 is a timeless expression of Constantia's winemaking legacy. First crafted over 300 years ago in the scenic vineyards of Constantia, South Africa, this historic dessert wine has captivated the palates of royalty, emperors, and literary legends alike. Known originally as "Vin de Constance" or simply Constantia wine, it became one of the most sought-after South African wines in history. From Louis Philippe of France, who dispatched emissaries to procure it, to Napoleon Bonaparte, who sipped it in exile on St. Helena for comfort, Constantia wine has a legacy like no other. Frederick the Great and Otto von Bismarck were loyal admirers, while Charles Dickens referenced it as a source of strength in his novels. Even Jane Austen praised it for its “healing powers on a disappointed heart.” Bring home a piece of wine history with our exclusive selection of heritage Constantia dessert wines, revered as one of the top-rated historic wines from South Africa. Ideal for collectors, connoisseurs, or anyone searching for a premium South African sweet wine with a royal legacy.
