Drink it now or cellar for up to 8 years. No need to decant. The Ktima Gerovassiliou winery is the private project of the famous winemaker Vangelis Gerovassiliou, who in 1981 decided to recover the old family vineyards to open his own winery in the Papamola di Epanomi region. Today Vangelis produces excellent wines from local and international blends and follows the production together with his 3 children. The wine is produced with Chardonnay grapes from vines planted in 1983. The grapes are first left in contact with the skins at a low temperature. Then the must is fermented in French oak barrels. And finally, the wine remains on its lees for a few months. This last step allows the wine to gain body and enrich its aromatic profile. This Chardonnay from the Ktima winery is a wine with good character, rich and round, and with a splendid golden yellow color. On the nose, you can feel the warm aromas of honey, citrus, and dried fruit and a slightly smoky aftertaste. In the mouth, the wine has a dense body and a complex taste. It is a wine that is ready to be appreciated now but that can age and evolve with elegance. The wine lends itself to multiple food pairings, but its ideal partner is fish served in white sauce or smoked. Try it with caviar too!
