Drink it now or cellar for up to 8 years. No need to decant, but best to open it half an hour before service. Part of Jackson Family Wines since 1993, the renowned La Crema winery was founded in 1979 and produces primarily single-varietal wines from cool-climate areas with a particular focus on sustainability and respect for terroir. The Chardonnay grapes come from several areas in the Sonoma Coast AVA, but primarily from Sable Mountain and Skycrest vineyards. Here, the high altitude, refreshing ocean mists, and excellent exposure create a unique microclimate and ideal conditions for this grape variety, which expresses itself at its best, creating a rounded and fleshy wine, yet characterized by a pronounced acidity. In the glass, La Crema Sonoma Coast Chardonnay reveals a fragrant and expressive aromatic profile with initial notes of citrus, pear, pineapple, and apple, followed by floral notes and subtle hints of vanilla in the background, thanks to its six-month oak aging. On the palate, it is harmonious and structured, lively and generous. It is juicy and captivating, with a brisk acidity that refreshes and balances the tasting. The finish is long and recalls light spicy touches. It is a versatile wine that pairs successfully with fish and poultry, but also with mac & cheese, veal scallops in lemon sauce, or pumpkin gnocchi.
