Latour 1974
Latour 1974 is a dry, medium-bodied red from Cabernet Sauvignon (Pauillac, France), in the full, structured reds style. Tannins are very firm and acidity fresh; oak influence is noticeable. Those scales describe the wine when young; this is a 52-year-old bottle and its tannin and oak will have softened. Good with steak, lamb, venison, cheese board.

Château Latour 1974 is a mature-vintage Cabernet Sauvignon-based red wine from the Pauillac appellation of Bordeaux. Château Latour is one of the oldest Bordeaux wine producing properties in the appellation of Pauillac and has a history dating back to the 14th Century. It was classified as a First Growth in 1855 and is widely regarded as one of the most consistent of all the elite châteaux, with a reputation for wines of remarkable longevity. "In this mediocre year of rather green, stalky, hollow wines, Latour produced one of the very best wines of the vintage. Still not fully mature, this dark ruby wine has good fruit, a medium body, surprising depth and ripeness for the vintage, and a sinewy, tannic finish. It avoids the telltale harshness and fruit deficiency found in so many 1974s." Wine Advocate, 1998
