Cellar for up to 15 years. Decant for an hour before serving. Lucente is the second wine from Tenuta Luce, a blend designed to reflect the sunny fields of Tuscany in a medley of bright black fruit. On the nose, you can discover fresh scents of cassis and dark hedgerow fruits, with supporting hints of cocoa, tobacco, spicy oak and balsamic. It is a blend of Sangiovese and Merlot harvested from the Luce estate, which spans the southwest side of Montalcino. Tenuta Luce is a joint project between Robert Mondavi and Vittorio Frescobaldi, founded in the 1990s in the Montalcino region of Tuscany. The Luce approach is built upon a deep respect for nature and the land. In practical terms, this means that the experts at Tenuta Luce take a minimal intervention approach, allowing nature to take its course in the process of winemaking. On the palate, Lucente shows a silky, medium to full-bodied texture, with mouth-drying tannins and fresh, elevating acidity. Look for notes of blueberry, blackberry and blackcurrant, along with subtle flavours of brioche, tobacco, leather, and cedar. Hints of baking spice linger on the refined finish. Consider pairing Lucente with eggplant parmesan, lasagna, or a top-quality steak.
