Cellar for up to 20 years. Decant for an hour before serving. Riserva Ducale Oro is a prestigious red blend, composed of 80% Sangiovese and 20% Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and other harmonious grapes. The nose exhibits scents of black cherry and ripe plum, with a pleasant spiciness and background hints of tobacco smoke, pepper, and clove. It is a beautiful vivid burgundy in the glass - a perfect wine for a special occasion or a fine meal. The Ruffino family has a long and tapestried history in the Chianti region, dating all the way back to 1877. The winery was founded by Ilario and Leopoldo Ruffino, two cousins who were natural winemakers - they won their first gold medal at the Milan Wine Exhibition, just 4 years after the winery’s founding. Ruffino’s reputation has not waned over the years, and the winery’s attention to quality and detail is evident in this bottle. It is a full-bodied wine, with an elegant mouthfeel and finely-grained tannins. The scents of the nose continue to the palate - you can discover notes of juicy plum, clove and sapid tobacco leaf, with an undercurrent of baking spice. It spent 36 months ageing in all, a full 12 months each in barrels of Slavonian oak, concrete, and smaller oak barriques. Riserva Ducale Oro is the gold standard for Chianti Classico, worthy of pairing with tomato sauces, fine cheese, or roasted game.
