Frank Cornelissen Magma 2016 is a red wine from the Terre Siciliane IGT in Sicily. This is the estate`s Grand Vin, produced from 100-year-old ungrafted Nerello Mascalese vines in the Barbabecchi vineyard at 910 metres of elevation on Mount Etna. This is a profound and intense wine, displaying notes of scorched earth, pomegranate, wild herbs and a hint of leather. It was fermented in epoxy tanks with a long 50-day maceration, resulting in a brawny yet elegant palate with smooth, enveloping tannins. This is an authentic and mineral-drenched expression of volcanic terroir, produced without the use of oak to preserve the purity of the high-altitude volcanic site.
