Markus Altenburger Jungenberg Chardonnay 2022 is a single-vineyard wine from the limestone slope above Jois in northern Burgenland. It opens with citrus peel, orchard fruit and a faint nutty edge from its time in neutral oak. The palate is brisk and mineral, showing a compact core, firm acidity and a light chalky grip. Subtle oxidative notes of hay and stone dust add complexity without softening the wine’s tension. The finish is long, saline and tightly coiled, with clear potential to develop further.
