Merchant's description

Sylvain Pataille Marsannay L`Ancestrale 2014 is a medium- to full-bodied Burgundy red wine from the Marsannay appellation of the Côte de Nuits. Based in Marsannay-la-Côte, Sylvain Pataille is a well-respected Burgundy wine producer known for his dedication to organic and biodynamic viticulture. Sylvain started his Domaine in 1999 with just 1 hectare of vines but has since grown the estate to its current size of 15 hectares. L`Ancestrale is Pataille`s top cuvée, produced from fruit from the lieux-dits of Clos du Roy, Clémengeots, and Les Ouzeloy. These sites were planted between 1930 and 1945. The wine was fermented with 95% whole bunches and matured for 24 months in barrel. A truly captivating Pinot Noir from one of the most respected vignerons in northern Burgundy.
