Massandra White Cabernet Sauvignon (Sotheby`s Release) 1948 is a dry, very full-bodied red from Cabernet Sauvignon (Crimea, Ukraine), in the full, structured reds style. Tannins are very firm and acidity fresh; oak influence is noticeable. Those scales describe the wine when young; this is a 78-year-old bottle and its tannin and oak will have softened. Good with steak, lamb, venison, cheese board.

The Massandra Winery was founded in 1894 by Tsar Nicholas II on the outskirts of Yalta, on the Crimean Peninsula, and was the official supplier of fine wines to the royal family whilst they were on vacation at their summer palace in Livadia. Many of the sweet fortified wines from the Massandra Collection are exceptionally rare and incredibly long-lived, with most only reaching maturity at around 50 to 60 years of age. Cabernet Sauvignon White Port is a unique wine that was produced up until 1951.
