Merchant's description

Product Information Country Italy Region Veneto Grape Variety Corvina, Corvinone, Rondinella Vintage 2021 ABV 14% Monte del Frà Valpolicella Ripasso Classico Superiore DOC 2021 is a premium Italian red wine crafted in the heart of the Valpolicella Classico region. Produced by the Monte del Frà family estate, this elegant Ripasso showcases tradition, terroir, and exceptional ageing potential. Vineyards & Terroir The grapes come from family-owned vineyards in Valpolicella Classico, located on hillside slopes between 250 and 450 metres above sea level. The vineyards benefit from clay and calcareous soils, which contribute structure, minerality, and complexity to the wine. Harvest takes place in mid-October, with grapes carefully selected and partially dried in temperature-controlled fruit cellars to enhance concentration and depth. Winemaking After destemming and gentle pressing, fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperatures, with daily punch-downs to maximize extraction. At the end of winter, the wine undergoes the traditional Ripasso method, refermenting naturally on the pressed skins of Amarone. The wine is then aged for approximately 20 months in French oak casks (30 hl), adding elegance, spice, and balance. Tasting Notes • Colour: Deep ruby red • Aroma: Intense and expressive with notes of violet, ripe cherry, black pepper, cinnamon, liquorice, vanilla, and tobacco • Palate: Full-bodied, harmonious, and vibrant, with fine tannins and flavours that mirror the nose • Finish: Long and persistent This Valpolicella Ripasso Superiore is drinking beautifully now and offers excellent ageing potential for 10+ years. Food Pairings Perfect with braised, grilled, or roasted red meats, aged cheeses, and rich dishes. It also pairs surprisingly well with fatty fish and Asian cuisine. Enjoy on its own as a refined meditation wine. Discover Monte del Frà – A Family-Owned Sustainable Winery in Lake Garda, Italy. Monte del Frà, meaning “land of the monks,” traces its roots back to the late 15th century when a group of friars established a monastery on this fertile land in northern Italy. By the 16th century, 25 hectares had been leased for the cultivation of vineyards and fruit trees, a legacy you can still see documented today in Vienna’s historic library. Today, Monte del Frà is a renowned family-owned Italian winery near Lake Garda, passionately run by the Bonomo family for over 60 years. Now in its third generation, Marica, Silvia, and Massimo Bonomo are dedicated to producing high-quality wines that reflect both tradition and terroir. Nestled between the Venetian Pre-Alps and the shores of Lake Garda, Monte del Frà benefits from a unique microclimate. The nearby mountains shield the vineyards from harsh northern winds, while the lake moderates extreme seasonal temperatures, ideal conditions for growing premium grapes. What truly sets Monte del Frà apart is its commitment to sustainable vineyard practices in Northern Italy. The estate spans rolling morainic hills formed by ancient glaciers, creating the perfect environment for cultivating indigenous grape varieties that define the character of each handcrafted wine. Whether you are looking for artisan Italian wines from a sustainable winery or want to explore the taste of Lake Garda's family-run vineyards, Monte del Frà offers a legacy in every bottle.
