Drink it now or cellar for up to 10 years. No need to decant, but best to open it half an hour before service. Founded in 2016 in Chorey-les-Beaune, the Petit Roy winery is owned by Seiichi Saito, a Chinese winemaker who grew up in Japan. After years of experience working at various French estates and opening the La Lune restaurant in Beaune, he decided to start his own winery with just over two hectares of biodynamically farmed vineyards. Production is limited, but Petit Roy wines have already achieved great success with the public and critics. The Chardonnay grapes come from vineyards cultivated using a biodynamic approach, fully respecting natural cycles and the terroir. Harvesting is done manually, and after fermentation, the finished wine rests in used barrels to reflect the varietal characteristics and ensure the production of expressive and balanced wines. In the glass, Petit-Roy Bourgogne Chardonnay reveals a bright, luminous color with golden hues and subtle greenish highlights. On the nose, it displays a fresh and fragrant character with aromas of white fruit and citrus, followed by floral notes on a mineral undertone. On the palate, it is savory and round, juicy and balanced, with a well-balanced acidity and a long, delicately savory finish. This white wine can age well for several years, but can already be enjoyed now with poultry and roasted fish.
