Merchant's description

Château Petit Village 2005 is a Pomerol blend of 71% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon and 9% Cabernet Franc from a growing season widely regarded as exceptional for the Right Bank. The 2005 bottling reflects the transition of the estate under AXA Millésimes, focusing on a more precise extraction of its gravel-over-clay terroir to balance the natural power of the year. Matured for 15 months in 60% new French oak, the wine displays an intense profile of black plum, truffle and dried herbs. On the palate, the 2005 is characterised by its dense, muscular frame and a significant tannic structure that has required nearly two decades to integrate and reveal its underlying Pomerol velvet.
