Drink it now or cellar for over 30 years. It is recommended to decant it for an hour and half. Pio Cesare is a family-run winery founded in the second half of the 19th century and located in the Langhe hills of Piedmont. Thanks to its long winemaking tradition and the high quality of its wines (produced with the region's native grape varieties, such as Nebbiolo, Dolcetto, and Barbera), the company is highly regarded by critics and the public. The Nebbiolo grapes for this Barolo are selected and hand-picked from recently acquired parcels of the Mosconi Cru located in Monforte d'Alba. After fermentation in stainless steel and a long maceration, the finished wine ages for three and a half years, primarily in large barrels and a small portion in French barriques. In the glass, the Mosconi Barolo reveals a clear and brilliant garnet color. Its aromatic profile is broad, fragrant, and complex, with fruity notes of black cherry, blackberry, and plum, followed by typical violet aromas, interspersed with hints of cocoa, licorice, and balsamic herbs. On the palate, it is full-bodied and lively, juicy and rich, with firm yet perfectly integrated tannins, and a pleasant, refreshing acidity. The finish is long, with fruity and licorice notes. It is a characterful, powerful, and seductive wine, capable of long aging. Try it with venison or wild boar stew.
