Merchant's description

Drink it now or cellar for up to 10 years. No need to decant, but best to open it half an hour before service. Located in southern Tuscany, on the south-eastern side of the Montalcino hill, the Poggio di Sotto winery was founded in 1989 and is today part of the Colle Massari group. From its 16 hectares of vineyard, the company produces high-quality grapes for its prestigious Rosso and Brunello di Montalcino wines. The Rosso di Montalcino from the Poggio di Sotto winery is made with 100% Sangiovese grapes sourced from estate vineyards located between 200 and 450 meters above sea level on soils rich in skeleton. After the harvest, the grapes are fermented according to traditional processes. The finished wine is then aged in Slavonian oak barrels for 24 months and then left in the bottle for a further 6 months, as required by the specifications for this denomination. It is a bright red wine with ruby tones. Its aromatic profile is fresh and fruity, with aromas of fresh berries (raspberries and currants), aromatic herbs, and some hints of spices and dried flowers. On the palate, it is lively and well-structured with a soft body and a savory streak. The finish is long and pleasant. It pairs beautifully with red meat and medium-aged cheeses.
