Poujeaux 1990
Poujeaux 1990 is a dry, full-bodied red from Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc (Médoc, France), in the full, structured reds style. Tannins are firm and acidity fresh; oak influence is some. Those scales describe the wine when young; this is a 36-year-old bottle and its tannin and oak will have softened. Good with steak, lamb, roast chicken, roast pork. No merchant in this catalogue lists it now; Hedonism Wines last did on 2026-10-01.

Château Poujeaux, in Moulis-en-Médoc, has long been one of the Left Bank`s best-value estates outside the 1855 classification, its blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot , Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot giving structured, characterful wines that age gracefully. 1990 was an outstanding, hot Bordeaux vintage, and this bottle should now be fully mature. Expect a brick-edged colour, aromas of black cherry, cedar, tobacco and dried herbs, and a palate that is soft, savoury and long. Best drunk now with roast lamb, beef or mature cheese.
