Merchant's description

Drink it now or cellar for up to 20 years. No need to decant but best to open it half an hour before service. Prager is a family-run winery located in Austria's Wachau region. Led by husband and wife team Ilse Prager and Toni Bodenstein, now joined by their son Robert, the company owns over 18 hectares of vineyards. The Wachstum Gruner Veltliner Bodenstein Smaragd is a blend of grapes selected by Toni Bodenstein from the estate's finest vineyard plots in the Wachau. Here, the location, soil, and complex microclimate, influenced by the proximity of the Danube, create ideal conditions for the production of complex wines with great freshness and minerality. The result is a wine of exceptional quality and excellent potential for aging and maturation, one of the most renowned and sought-after Gruner Veltliner in the region. In the glass, it reveals a broad and distinctive aromatic profile with green notes of aromatic herbs, and hints of kumquat and grapefruit, followed by exotic touches of lychee on a mineral and spicy undertone. On the palate, it is silky, balanced, and lively. It has a fruity and juicy character with a crisp, refreshing acidity and a deep, saline minerality. The finish is long, persistent, and delicately spicy. Try it with Asian cuisine, Italian veal with tuna sauce, pasta with truffles, or asparagus risotto.
