Château Prieuré-Lichine 2016 is a Left Bank Bordeaux red wine from the Margaux appellation. The 2016 blend is 66% Cabernet Sauvignon, 29% Merlot and five per cent Petit Verdot, aged in 50% new oak. This vintage was defined by a rainy spring followed by an exceptionally dry summer, which led to small, concentrated berries with high acidity and refined tannins. The wine shows a Margaux profile that is more dense and structured than the 2015. Aromatics of cassis, spring flowers and graphite lead to a medium-bodied palate with a silky texture and a refreshing, high-toned finish. The tannins are architectural but refined, indicating a wine capable of long-term ageing without losing its floral elegance.
