Quinta das Bageiras Espumante Reserva Velha 1991 is a mature-vintage traditional-method sparkling wine produced from Maria Gomes, Bical, Rabo de Velha and Cercial grapes in the Bairrada region of northern Portugal. Quinta das Bágeiras is one of the modern pioneers of Bairrada winemaking. The property is managed by third-generation winemaker Mário Sérgio Alves Nuno, who in 1989 took the bold step of estate-bottling wines which up to this point were sold in bulk – as was much of the wine of Bairrada at this time – quickly becoming a reference for Bairrada wines and in Portugal. This 1991 sparkling represents one of the first traditional-method sparkling wines bottled by Quinta das Bageiras.
