Cellar for up to 10 years. Serve chilled. The pioneering Rombauer Vineyards have been making Chardonnay since 1982, recognising that the cool climate and clay-based soils of California’s Carneros region offered ideal conditions for producing sensational Chardonnay. Over the years Koerner Rombauer and his winery became synonymous with the rich, buttery style of Chardonnay that is now found all over California. The rich golden hue of this classic Rombauer Chardonnay immediately catches the eye, while the seductive aromas of baked apple, pear and lemon zest awaken the senses before you’ve even taken a sip. On the palate there is a generous buttery texture and rich hints of vanilla and tropical fruit which are carefully balanced by a refreshing acidity. Rombauer Vineyards ferment and age this wine in oak barrels to give the trademark creamy texture and rich buttery and oaky flavours that are today the calling card of most Californian Chardonnays. The winery also does lees stirring every two weeks to add extra complexity and an even creamier mouthfeel to the wine. This is a punchy Chardonnay that would be an excellent match for chicken in a creamy sauce, hard cheeses or pan-fried scallops.
