Rustenberg is one of the Cape's great historic estates, and Peter Barlow is their flagship statement — a single-vineyard Cabernet named after the late patriarch of the family who restored the property to its current standing. The 2022 comes from Stellenbosch, where the combination of mountain altitude, ancient soils, and long, warm growing seasons gives Cabernet a particular kind of seriousness: dense, structured, and built to last. This is not a wine that flatters immediately. It earns its keep. Dark blackcurrant and tobacco are the anchors, wrapped in well-integrated oak that adds weight without showing off.
