Clos Rougeard is one of the most legendary producers of Cabernet Franc in the Loire Valley and their wines are incredibly highly sought after. Antoine Foucault is the ninth generation to run the estate and the incomparable quality of the wines is largely due to their uncompromising viticultural standards and minimal intervention winemaking. Les Poyeux is made from a 2.9-hectare plot of 40 to 70+ year-old vines, fermented and matured in seasoned oak barrels. From a slightly warmer vintage, the 2009 exudes a touch more power and a slightly fuller-bodied profile. Now entering its prime drinking phase, it offers waves of concentrated dark fruits and delicious savoury complexity.
