Château Soutard typically crafts a blend of Merlot and Cabernet Franc, occasionally incorporating a small proportion of Cabernet Sauvignon and Malbec in certain vintages. The grapes are picked by hand, and the vinification process occurs in a combination of stainless-steel, concrete, and wooden vats, with malolactic fermentation taking place in barrels. Following this, Château Soutard matures in 60% new French oak for approximately 18 months. The 2006 vintage presents a wine of classic style, featuring oak, plums, liquorice, and tobacco leaf notes both on the nose and palate.
