Chapoutier’s ‘Les Granits’ is a fragrant, refined Marsanne from vines grown on very steep slopes to the south of Tournon. The 2006 vintage presents an alluring and mature white Rhône nose featuring beeswax, lanolin, apple, and honeycomb with a nuanced oxidative nuttiness. The palate is substantial and rounded, showcasing stone fruit, pear, apple, and a hint of citrus. It is fortified with notes of marzipan, a touch of honey, and concludes with a slate-y minerality.
