Stags Leap Cask 23 1991
Stags Leap Cask 23 1991 is a dry, very full-bodied red from Cabernet Sauvignon (Stags Leap, United States), in the full, structured reds style. Tannins are firm and acidity fresh; oak influence is noticeable. Those scales describe the wine when young; this is a 35-year-old bottle and its tannin and oak will have softened. Good with steak, lamb, venison, cheese board.

Stag’s Leap Wine Cellars was founded in 1970 by Warren Winiarski and is arguably one of the most important California wineries having won the Cabernet Sauvignon competition at the famous 1976 Judgement of Paris. Cask 23 was first produced in 1974 after consultant winemaker, Andre Tchelistcheff, declared that one particular cask was so beautiful and distinct that it merited a separate bottling. The 1991 is one of the finest ever releases of this wine and is still drinking beautifully.
