Merchant's description

Drink it now or cellar for up to 8 years. No need to decant. The Swinney family settled in the Frankland River region in the early 1920s, raising cattle. After more than 75 years, they began cultivating grapes in the late 1990s, establishing their own winery. Today, Swinney Winery is run by Matt and George Swinney and produces high-quality, age-worthy Western Australian wines. Since 2018, winemaker Rob Mann has led the winery's modern approach, focusing on environmentally friendly practices and the pure expression of terroir. The wine is made with grapes sourced from bush-trained vines in the Powderbark vineyard. The vines enjoy a privileged hilltop position and gravelly, iron-rich soil. Small amounts of Vementino and Cinsault are blended with Mourvèdre to add a touch of freshness and complexity. After manual harvesting and spontaneous fermentation, the wine rests on the lees for 5 months in used oak. The result is a lively and easy-drinking rosé, with a clear, pale salmon color. Its aromatic profile is elegant and fresh, with notes of strawberry, apple, cranberry, and pink grapefruit, followed by hints of ginger and honeysuckle. On the palate, it is juicy and taut, structured and flavorful, with a clear, vibrant acidity. The finish is medium-long, fruity, and refreshing. It is excellent as a summer aperitif and works well with grilled giant prawns.
