The Tyrrell family-owned Old Hillside Vineyard is located on Marrowbone Road, Pokolbin and contains the ‘Old Patch’ planted in 1867. Old Hillside Shiraz is made from the younger vines on this site, with an average vine age of 50 years. It is a steep, eastern facing block that is protected by the Brokenback mountain range. The block features darker, richer soils than the soils at Ashmans property. A well-balanced, elegant style that shows good balance between vibrant fruit and savoury spice, along with classic Hunter Valley wet earth. The oak is only a minor component and the tannins provide structure and depth on the back palate. Tyrrell's Wines
