Drink it now or cellar for up to 5 years. No need to decant. Founded by husband-and-wife team Seth and Aubrey Kitzke, Upsidedown is a family-run winery in Washington State that has been in operation since 2015. The winery produces a range of wines that include blends of Rhône and other international varietals, from vineyards spread across some of the state's most prestigious areas. Upsidedown Rescue Rose is a surprising wine made from 100% Nebbiolo grapes from Horse Heaven Hills, at an elevation of approximately 1,150 feet in Washington State. It's an unusual wine, especially since it's rare to find Nebbiolo in the Pacific Northwest, much less as a rosé. Whole-bunch pressing and extended lees aging enhance its aromatic character and smooth mouthfeel. On the nose, the wine reveals a broad and fragrant bouquet with notes of red fruit, ripe citrus, and papaya, followed by floral and mineral hints. On the palate, it is fresh, lively, and smooth. It has a supple texture and vibrant, well-balanced acidity. It is juicy and complex, with a minerality that lingers on the long finish. It is the quintessential summer wine. Serve it chilled as an aperitif during a barbecue. Elegant, youthful, and delicate, it also pairs well with pork and chicken, grilled giant prawns, seafood paella, ratatouille, and even roasted portobello mushrooms.
