Château Valandraud is undoubtedly one of the benchmark producers of Saint-Émilion and, in a relatively short space of time, has already achieved the second-highest classification of Premier Grand Cru Classé (B). The 2016 Grand Vin is a sublime follow-up to the excellent 2015 and continues a wonderful run of releases from this estate since the year 2000. Remarkably intense in colour, this is an endlessly deep, rich and sumptuous wine that, although blessed with extraordinarily fine tannins, is certainly built for the long-haul. Drink 2022-2050.
