Award-Winning Pedigree & Critic Scores The 2020 growing season in Margaret River produced a stunningly expressive and deeply aromatic profile. This vintage has earned an elite collection of critical accolades: • 96 Points – James Halliday’s Wine Companion ("Elegance and class... a gorgeous rendition") • 95 Points – Wine Enthusiast & The Real Review • 94 Points – Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate • 93 Points – Wine Spectator & James Suckling Why We Love It While many New World Cabernets lean on heavy oak and over-extraction, Vasse Felix chief winemaker Virginia Willcock achieves a masterclass in balance. Composed of 89% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Malbec , and 1% Merlot , the wine is matured for 18 months in French oak barriques. It pours a brilliant, deep ruby and unfurls with a fragrant, beautifully scented bouquet of perfumed crème de cassis, wild strawberry, tobacco leaf, and pencil lead. On the palate, it is generous, intense, and elegant, blending crunchy currant fruit with savoury undertones of graphite, dark chocolate, and liquorice. Fine-grained, structural tannins and a vibrant line of acidity carry it through to a long, perfumed, and mineral-driven finish. It stands as a magnificent, sophisticated alternative to a premium Bordeaux Claret. Perfect Food Pairings The powerful yet elegant structure of this Margaret River masterpiece requires savoury dishes that can match its intensity: • Prime Cuts: Simply grilled rump steak, ribeye, or a classic Beef Wellington. • Slow-Cooked Comforts: Slow-roasted beef short ribs or roast leg of lamb infused with rosemary and garlic. • Earthy Vegetarian: Rich wild mushroom risotto or lentil and herb stews. • Cheese Board: Mature hard cheddars, Gouda, or block Pecorino. Serving & Cellaring Tips To allow its complex layers of fruit and wood spice to fully unfold, we highly recommend decanting this bottle for 60 minutes before serving. Serve slightly cool at 16–18°C in large-bowled Cabernet glassware. While its seamless balance makes it incredibly seductive to drink today, its firm tannic spine and brilliant acidity guarantee excellent cellaring potential. It will continue to evolve gracefully through 2028–2035+.
