Drink now or cellar for up to 6 years. Serve chilled. Venus La Universal was founded in 1999 by childhood friends Sara Pérez and René Barbier who later fell in love and began to make wine together. Inspired by the goddess of love and the feminine aspect of wine, this unique boutique winery covers just 4 hectares in Catalonia’s DO Montsant. They only work with organic grapes grown on the estate as well as partnerships with select local growers. Dido Blanc is consistently awarded 92+ point scores by top wine critics like Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate and Tim Atkin. This characterful cuvee is composed of 50% Macabeo, 40% Garnacha Blanca, and 10% Xarel-lo from up to 70 year old vines grown on limestone soils which help retain plenty of lightness and elegance in the wine. After vinification the wine ages in neutral oak barrels and 5000 litre foudres for 14 months. Thanks to the lengthy oak ageing this is an opulent and powerful white cuvee with attractive notes of ripe peaches, baked apples, and chamomile flowers. The first sip reveals an ample full body and firm structure balanced by refreshing acidity and ripe orchard fruit flavors. Dido signs off with a long, lingering finish peppered with nutty, honeyed notes from the maturation process.
