Vina Tondonia Rioja Reserva Tinto Lopez de Heredia Magnum 2001
Vina Tondonia Rioja Reserva Tinto Lopez de Heredia Magnum 2001 is a dry, medium-bodied red from Tempranillo (Rioja, Spain), in the rich, smooth reds style. Tannins are moderate and acidity moderate; oak influence is heavy. Those scales describe the wine when young; this is a 25-year-old bottle and its tannin and oak will have softened. Good with lamb, roast pork, steak, beef stew.

Lopez de Heredia Viña Tondonia Rioja Reserva Tinto 2001 is a medium-bodied blended red wine from the Rioja region of Spain. Lopez de Heredia is one of the most celebrated names in Rioja winemaking, producing steadfastly traditional Rioja wines from its iconic bodega in Haro since the late 19th century. American oak is preferred to French, while the estate`s wines undergo extended maturation in barrel – from six years up to 10 years for the Gran Reservas – before release. Available here in magnum format, the 2001 Viña Tondonia Reserva currently exhibits aromas of tart cherries, woodland nuances, and a subtle balsamic undertone. The palate unfolds with layers of cherry fruit transitioning into notes of mushroom, pine needles, and damp earth. Tannins are well-integrated. The extended, mineral-infused finish carries hints of balsamic, orange, and a cherry orchard during harvest time.
