Cellar for up to 15 years. Decant for up to an hour before serving. This is a dry, red wine, with a beautiful deep purple hue in the glass. It has a bouquet of rich fruits, where you can discover scents of sour cherry, plum, and deep notes of smoke and leather. As the Mukuzani appellation demands, this is a 100% Saperavi wine, aged in a combination of qvevri and oak. The name Vine Ponto is a reference to Georgia’s ancient wine history, as the country is essentially the “zero point” for the entire practice of winemaking. The winery was founded in 2014 and has become known as one of the best producers of premium class qvevri wines in the country. The head winemaker at Vine Ponto, Giorgi Bakuradze, places a lot of faith in his grapes, avoiding any technological intervention or artificial solutions in his wines. Mukuzani is a serious red wine, considered to be one of the greatest expressions of Saperavi in Georgia. It has a tannic, full-bodied character, with a strong woody outline, gained from Seguin Moreau oak barrels. On the palate, you can discover a tart medley of black and red fruits, supported by vanilla spice, coffee, chocolate and black pepper. For its excellent tannic and acidic structure, this Mukuzani can be aged for some time in the cellar. Consider pairing it with grilled lamb or sharp, flavourful cheese.
