Vosne Romanee Aux Malconsorts Sylvain Cathiard 2002
Vosne Romanee Aux Malconsorts Sylvain Cathiard 2002 is a dry, medium-bodied red from Pinot Noir (Vosne-Romanee, France), in the medium, savoury reds style. Tannins are moderate and acidity fresh; oak influence is some. Those scales describe the wine when young; this is a 24-year-old bottle and its tannin and oak will have softened. Good with duck, salmon, roast chicken, bolognese.

Domaine Sylvain Cathiard Vosne-Romanée Aux Malconsorts 2002 is a mature 1er Cru Burgundy Pinot Noir from the hallowed Vosne-Romanée appellation of the Côte de Nuits. The 1er Cru vineyard of Malconsorts is located on the border with Nuits-St-Georges, and immediately adjacent to La Tâche. In good vintages, it is considered by many Burgundy lovers to be a Grand Cru in all but name. "Discreet wood frames the elegant floral hints that combine with earth, plum and cassis aromas. There is excellent purity to the pure, detailed and focused middle weight flavours that are still quite powerful and robust on the mineral-driven and impressively long finish that displays just a hint of acid tang. This is quite masculine in character and while it could certainly be approached now with pleasure I would suggest holding it for another 2 to 4 years first. "Burghound, 2017
