Drink it now or cellar for up to 25 years. It is recommended to decant it for half an hour. Attilio Ghisolfi is a family-run winery located in Monforte d'Alba, Piedmont. Initially a farm, the focus shifted to winemaking in the late 1980s. Some orchards were converted into vineyards, and the Ghisolfi family began bottling their own wine. The Nebbiolo grapes for this Barolo are sourced from a vineyard located in the municipality of Monforte d'Alba, in the Bussia cru, between 300 and 350 meters above sea level, in the Visette area, so called because of the dialectal derivation of the word "vis" (vine). The vines, averaging approximately 37 years old, benefit from a south/southwest exposure and marly, white tuff soils. After harvesting and vinification with indigenous yeasts, the wine ages for 30 months in small oak barrels and for an additional 6 months in bottle before release. The Barolo Bussia Bricco Visette is an elegant and intense wine with a brilliant dark garnet color. Its aromatic profile is broad and complex, with notes of blackcurrant and raspberry, pomegranate and cherry, followed by spicy and gently balsamic notes. On the palate, it is rich and balanced, concentrated and expressive, with firm yet well-integrated tannins and a good structure. It has a good acidity that refreshes the palate and lingers on the finish. Try it with braised game or mature cheeses.
