Castello di Neive's Santo Stefano vineyard sits on one of Barbaresco's finest slopes, where calcareous clay soils and perfect south-facing exposure coax remarkable elegance from Nebbiolo. This 2020 captures everything we love about this cru: the tension between rose-petal perfume and earthy depth, the way fine tannins frame rather than dominate, and that distinctive mineral thread that runs through the best wines of this village. At six years old, it's drinking beautifully now but has the structure and breeding to develop until the early 2040s. We find Santo Stefano always more approachable in youth than some of its Barbaresco neighbours, yet no less serious for it.
