Barolo Falleto di Serralunga Riserva Giacosa 1996
Barolo Falleto di Serralunga Riserva Giacosa 1996 is a dry, very full-bodied red from Nebbiolo (Barolo, Italy), in the full, structured reds style. Tannins are very firm and acidity very high; oak influence is some. Those scales describe the wine when young; this is a 30-year-old bottle and its tannin and oak will have softened. Good with beef stew, mushroom risotto, steak, lamb.

Giacosa Barolo Falletto 1996 is a full-bodied, single-vineyard Nebbiolo red wine from the Barbaresco appellation of Piedmont, northern Italy. From 1961 until his death in 2018 Bruno Giacosa was behind some of the most celebrated vintages of Barolo and Barbaresco ever produced, and his famous red-label wines from these appellations have deservedly achieved iconic status. "The 1996 Barolo Falletto de Serralunga (Red Label Riserva) possesses extraordinary presence and stature. Dark garnet/ruby-coloured, it offers a tight but promising nose of road tar, scorched earth, truffles, blackberries, cherries, and espresso. This muscular, massive wine gave me chills. It is an exquisite, virtually perfect Barolo that requires a decade of cellaring, and should last for 30-40 years. I remember wishing I were twenty years younger when I tasted it prior to bottling ... I still feel the same way. Awesome!" Robert Parker, 2001
