Barolo Granbussia Riserva Aldo Conterno (Damaged Label) 1995
Barolo Granbussia Riserva Aldo Conterno (Damaged Label) 1995 is a dry, full-bodied red from Nebbiolo (Barolo, Italy), in the full, structured reds style. Tannins are very firm and acidity very high; oak influence is some. Those scales describe the wine when young; this is a 31-year-old bottle and its tannin and oak will have softened. Good with beef stew, mushroom risotto, steak, lamb.

In 1969, Aldo Conterno broke away from the family business to establish his own winery in Bussia, Monforte d’Alba. Aldo’s three sons Stefano, Franco and Giacomo now run the winery and continue to produce some of the region’s finest wines from their 25-hectares of prime vineyards. Granbussia is seen as the ultimate expression of the estate as it is produced by blending grapes from the oldest and most expressive parcels from the Romirasco, Cicala and Colonnello vineyards. Only produced in exceptional vintages, it remains in the cellar for at least 9 years before release.
