Barolo Gabutti Sordo 2011 is a single-vineyard red wine from the Serralunga d’Alba commune in Piedmont. This Nebbiolo comes from 35-year-old vines rooted in compact calcareous marl and undergoes a submerged-cap maceration lasting up to 50 days. It has a deep garnet appearance with orange highlights and an intense nose of dried rose petals, ripe cherries and sweet cake spice. The palate is full-bodied and warm, delivering a concentrated core of red berries, tobacco leaf and liquorice. After 24 months in large Slavonian oak barrels and further refinement in stainless steel, the wine exhibits a firm structure with sweet, well-integrated tannins.
