Château Batailley is a 5ème Cru Classé estate with a long history and solid reputation for exceptionally consistent, good value Pauillac. The sensational 2009 is a classic blend of 74% Cabernet Sauvignon, 22% Merlot, 2% Cabernet Franc and 2% Petit Verdot, and is really beginning to hit its stride. It is medium-bodied, harmonious and refined, with pixelated tannins, bright acidity and a wonderful core of rich black fruits, cedar, tobacco and spice. Though perfect for drinking now, this has plenty left in the tank.
